Large Real Estate Developer to Develop aMillion Dollar Project in Escazú

The company Portafolio Inmobilario plans to develop an ambitious project called Avenida Escazú which will generate 1,800 jobs and will be located on the east side of Cima Hospital.
Specifically, twelve buildings will be built with offices and 150 residences, 20 restaurants and two hotels . The hotels will be The Marriot Residence Inn, which is the first one built outside of the United States and Canada. A five-star boutique hotel will also be built. The two hotels should add about 150 rooms for the growing tourist market.
A new six screen movie complex, food court, upper-end stores and underground parking will also be featured.

Mark Knoblauch, a specialist from ERA Latin America Division, states the boom will continue here. He goes on to state, “that the local market will be barely affected by events in the United States mortgage market. Emerging markets like Costa Rica will continue to attract capital for real estate investment.”
Puriscal Awakens in the Face of Tourism

Due to the area’s abundance of natural beauty a huge effort is being made to create interest in the Puriscal area. Small businessmen want to increase tourism to this region southwest of San José. The Puriscal Chamber of Tourism and The Costa Rican Institute of Tourism are the main agencies involved in the promotion of the area. “The region is just beginning to grow in the field of tourism, however we want people to discover its real potential”, explained Ricardo Gutiérrez president of the Puriscal Chamber of Commerce. It was also pointed out the need for more lodging in the area as it popularity grows.
Currently tours offered in the area are the Indian Reserve of Zapatón, Santiago de Puriscal, Turrubares, Mora and Acosta. There are also tours offered to La Cangreja national park.
It must be pointed out that this area is also becoming extremely popular with foreigners as a place to live because of the spectacular scenery, views and so much more.
